Thank you all for supporting JordanBlogs - The Jordanian blogging community

December 7, 2007 10:00 by Jordan Blogs

We would like to thank everyone who showed up for the Jordanblogs meeting. It was a night to remember. We also hope to see everyone else who couldn't make it due to weather conditions and other personal circumstances.

We would like to take this opportunity to address some of the concerns raised during the meeting, hopefully this will remove any ambiguity associated with this online community.

Jordan blogs is by bloggers targeting the world. It's a non-profit organization with absolutely no hidden agendas other than promoting bloggers and maintaining the Jordanian Blogosphere ecosystem. As it was envisioned from its inception around the same time as Jordan Planet went offline. Since then it has accelerated to include many Jordanian bloggers from all around the world. But was set back few times due to technical difficulties and management related issues in the previous committees. We need to make sure that such issues will not continue to hinder the progression of Jordanblogs.

The new owners and the new committee that is yet to be elected, will make sure there are mechanisms in place to remedy such issues. While we have great respect to the previous committees and their members, we find that they have failed to deliver a workable solution based (among other things) on democracy and professionalism.

Today, you will find at least 4 different aggregators, some are still in denial that they are in fact aggregators. This vacuum was created by the absence of a proper committee that deliberated less and took action more. The new Jordan blogs will continue to grow and expand. It will continue to be the daily source of a wealth of blog articles for everyone out there.

Jordan Blogs will not be reduced to a person. It's the collective work of every Jordanian blogger on it. It's such a shame that there will always be someone who will undermine the whole endeavors seeking momentary fame.

Regarding this meeting, here are few things to consider, while we continue to see no reason to justify everything, but we will clarify some points

  • Regarding the timing:-
5PM might not be suitable for some people (and we apologize for that) but it's suitable for others. For example, students and ladies who can't stay out late. Add to that people who will need to use public transportation. While taking into consideration that the meeting might run for 3 or 4 hours. That will make it last beyond 9PM (10 by the time you get home).
  • Jafra Cafe is known as much as other cafes. It's been promoted by famous bloggers like Roba, Khalidah and Lina. We have also sent emails to people who asked for directions.
  • While we take full responsibility for not having a sticky post for the meeting, we found that it might not be appropriate to pam people with additional details that might not be necessary. The same was posted by Maioush, Aya, Jano and Qwaider.
  • Some of the attending bloggers acted very childishly during the meeting pressing issues that are of no relevance to the whole event. While we thank everyone for showing up and their feedback. We don't appreciate the backstabbing, clowning and chaos that few bloggers tried to promote. It would have been perceived much better had it been a constructive and cooperative. Apparently some had their own agenda.

We will continue to call on all our friends to support the Jordanian blogging community, their assistance is instrumental in the success of everyone. Not just Jordan blogs.

We would like to also appreciate the efforts of Aya, Maioush, Jano, Eyad Ayesh
